Eight weeks after his first victory on the PGA tour, Scottie Scheffler won the legendary Masters of Augusta. The win with three blows ahead of the Northern Iren Rory Mcilroy is the greatest success in the career of the 25-year-old Texan. “I really can not believe it in words what it means to win this tournament,” said Scheffler at the award ceremony after putting on the world-famous green jacket. “There is no longer saying as: Thanks. I appreciate it.”

Two weeks after his rise to the number one world ranking, Scheffler went with a lead of three strokes in the final day at the Magnolia Lane in the US state of Georgia. Thanks to a 71er round on the PAR-72 course, the leadership was no longer really in danger. Scheffler ended the four days with a total result of 278 beats and remained as the only participant in every pass on Par. Mcillroy played a superior 64er round on Sunday, but could no longer catch up on Scheffler. For the victory this year is the record prize money of 2.7 million US dollars (around 2.5 million euros).
This is the coolest part of this deal.
Scheffler in the face of lifelong start right in Augusta
In the previous year, the Japanese winner Hideki Matsuyama had still received $ 2.07 million. The total price money grew from 11.5 million to $ 15 million – the highest sum so far with a major tournament. Matsuyama came on the split 14th place and Half Scheffler as the tradition requires at the award ceremony in the green jacket. All former champions have a lifelong start-up law in future Masters. “That’s the coolest part of this deal,” said Scheffler.
Woods can not hold the level of kick-off day
14 months after his heavy car accident, this rule also enabled Tiger Woods the rejuvenated and impressive comeback at a PGA tournament. The five-time Masters winner could not hold his impressive level from Thursday when he was not holding his fans from a sensational victory after a 71er round. But unlike the top players Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Power Package Bryson Dechambeau and Olympic Champion Xander Schaufele managed the 46-year-old.
“It was an incredible feeling. Words can not really describe it,” Woods said. “If you consider where I was a little more than a year ago and what my perspectives were to be here and play four full laps. A month ago, I was not sure if I can do that.”
Cameron Smith said goodbye with a triple bogey on the twelfth hole from all chances of winning. From the three beats behind the beginning of day four were five for the Australian at the end of a 73er round. He came with Shane Lowry from Ireland on the divided third place.
Germany’s Golf Idol Bernhard Langer had missed the cut and was prematurely excreted in the US state of Georgia.
