Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Type Table: weaknesses, resistances and immunities

Pokémon types are something that has been as long as Pikachu himself. In all games in the franchise the system of advantages and disadvantages of different types, such as the classic water, plant and fire, has always been present. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would be no different: in the first open world game of the saga, it is possible to come across several monsters that have weaknesses, strength, resistance and even immunities (all depending on their element).

With that in mind, MGG azil explained all about the 18 types available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Check it out:

Why know the types of Pokémon is important in Scarlet and Violet?

It is important to know the type table as you will allow you to know exactly which Pokémon use against a particular coach or a wild Pokémon during your Pale adventure. When you have to face Team Star chiefs or Pokémon League Elite Four members, knowing that water type is effective against fire will not be enough.

Of course, we are talking about the type or types of Pokémon, but the table below also applies to special attacks: a fire Pokémon with a plant attack (let’s imagine) can be very effective against a water-type Pokémon! Therefore, it is essential to know the type of attack of your monsters.

But beware: because of the unprecedented mechanics of Teracrystal of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it is essential to know the type table by participating in a multiplayer mode. The TeraCrystal type will usually be different from the base of the Pokémon: Pay close attention to the icon in the upper right corner of the screen before choosing your Pokémon.

Type Table: Pokémon Scarlet and Purple

Here are the 18 types with their weaknesses, advantages and immunities. Note that some attacks can be very effective (and therefore deal four times more damage), effective (fold the damage), little effective (deals only half the damage) or even ineffective (no damage). This mechanics is explained in-game at the gym.

To make this clear, we decided to classify in weak against, strong against and resistant against. As the game is not located in Portuguese, we decided to put the types as they appear in the game: in English.

  • Weak against: type Pokémon receives x2 or up to x4 (if dual-type) in damage.
  • Strong against: Inflict Type attacks X2 or X4 in the opposing Pokémon (use these attacks to cause more damage to enemies).
  • Resistant against: Pokémon is resistant to type attacks and receives only half of the generally inflicted damage.
